I've always been a fan of the trio because it asks the question: what can you do with this? A friend of mine used to tell me that if you have three musical elements, you have everything you need. I think he's right. For many months, the songs for Lines + Lineage existed as saxophone, bass, and metronome. Now that the album has been out for three years and I've done shows as a quartet and quintet, it's fun to return to the original setting. Joining me for the evening was Ben Mars on bass and Cam Schneider on drums. Photos by Adam Orgler.
