New Show: July 4th plus Video & Audio from last week...

Next Thursday, July 4th, I'll be playing with Courtney Krause and an all-star group of musicians for 4th of July by the River. This family-friendly event starts at noon and goes until 11pm. We play at 2ish. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of playing with Scot Sutherland and Russ Tomlinson. The tenor sax, bass, drum trio is one of my favorite settings to play in and the three of us had a blast! You can listen to the entire night by jumping over to my Music page and you can watch three videos by visiting my Video page

I continue to burn through some books this summer. I've got a few in rotation and the two I'm really digging are Essentialism and 101 Things I Learned in Architecture School I'm reading Essentialism with a tear in my eye because for years, I was the guy busy for the sake of being busy. Many of the stories that Greg McKeown shares in the book hit close to home. If you're a recovering busy person, go read this book and start becoming the best version of yourself.

In 101 Things I Learned in Architecture School, the applications go beyond architecture. Sure, there's advice for architects but there are nuggets for everyone within the pages. It was years ago that I took a break from only reading books about music. I soon found inspiration within other disciplines. As I continued exploring, I learned that everything is related. The work ethic it takes to play a musical instrument is no different than learning to design a garden. Coaching a basketball team is no different than directing a marching band. The courage it takes to give a presentation is the same courage it takes to play a concerto.

Thanks for reading. Stay creative, stay kind.
