On June 24, 2025, along with Seth Hedquist, guitar, Ben Mars, bass, and Russ Tomlinson, drums, we performed for an enthusiastic audience that wasn't afraid of the rain. When you book an outdoor show eight months in advance, you can't predict the weather. Two days before the show, the chance of rain was 80%. I think it rained every night leading up to the show. The morning of, I received a message from Parks and Rec asking if I wanted to cancel. I studied the weather predictions and replied, "I'm optimistic because I'm optimistic" The clouds passed and by 4 pm, we were in the clear.
Adam Orgler took these amazing photographs.

I wasn't planning on recording the show but then I thought, "I don't perform often enough; I should capture this." At first, the video served as a way for the four of us to reflect on the show. As I say to my students, "The way you feel and the way you sound can be two very different things." The only solution is time. Give yourself time away from the performance and from the recording. Revisit it with a clear head and no expectations. For me, I felt good about the show during and after. When I watched the video, it confirmed what I thought and felt.
For those asking, there's only one camera; a Zoom Q8n-4K. The different "angles" were done by editing in iMovie. Zooming in gives the illusion of more than one camera. The audio is also from the single camera stereo microphone. To me, it's kind of amazing that it sounds that good.
The three songs below, Grandpa Arthur, Grandma Mildred, and Aunt Alma, are all from my album Lines + Lineage. They're only slightly different in this live setting. Take a listen and enjoy!
